Disney slates 2024 release dates for the Snow White live-action remake, the CG-animated prequel Mufasa: The Lion King, and Pixar's Inside Out 2.

Disney has announced the official release dates of 8 major upcoming titles. Disney announced a slew of new and upcoming releases at D23 Expo 2022, their official fan club convention that took place last weekend in Anaheim, California. Inside Out 2 and Elio are the only titles out of the eight coming from their subsidiary Pixar, giving fans a follow-up to their 2015 modern classic Inside Out, which anthropomorphized the emotions inside a young woman's head as puberty begins to strike. Inside Out 2 will follow teenage Riley and her emotions through a brand-new ordeal in her life, and though Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling will not be reprising their roles as Fear and Digust respectively, Amy Poehler will be returning as Joy.

Other projects involved are part of Disney's new live-action remake canon. Snow White will be a new take on 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the film that was both the first Disney feature film to be released and the project that began the company's Disney Princess canon. That film will star West Side Story's Rachel Zegler in the title role with The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb at the helm. Mufasa: The Lion King, on the other hand, will be presented in photorealistic CGI animation, directed by Moonlight's Barry Jenkins. It will be a prequel following the origin story of Simba's father, featuring returning actors John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner as Timon.

Per Variety, Disney has just given official dates to several major upcoming releases. The release dates span 2023 and 2024 - some include previously announced films while others have yet to be revealed, including one Marvel title that has been moved in between Phase 5 and Phase 6. Check out all the release dates below:

With Mufasa, Inside Out, Snow White and more spanning 2024, Disney aims to dominate the box office in that year, unsurprising considering their streak in recent years. Those projects will come amidst a slew of Marvel titles, including Captain America: New World Order in May and Thunderbolts in late July. So far, the only non-Disney titles announced for the entire Summer are Despicable Me 4, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two, a Transformers animated film, and an untitled Sony/Marvel project.

Although Mission: Impossible and Despicable Me will likely give these new projects a run for their money, these are prime dates for Wish, Haunted Mansion, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Inside Out 2. Snow White and Elio may have more trouble in a slightly crowded March that includes projects like Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and A Quiet Place: Day One. However, for Disney fans, both 2023 and 2024 are certainly shaping out to be quite a ride any way it's sliced.
