From the Times-Call photo archive via Longmont Museum: “This 100,000-pound transformer, recently purchased by Longmont for $90,000, was unloaded Tuesday from a railroad car by Weicker Transfer. Public Utilities Director Jerry Trotter said the transformer, which create 20,000 KVA, will be linked into the regular system to provide additional power. The two men working to unload the huge transformer are Dick Schlattman and Harry Braning.” Originally published Sept. 10, 1968. (Longmont Times-Call File — Longmont Museum)
